Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) - Floral Night-Light #1

$40.00 Sold Out

This hand-made desk light contains one preserved specimen of Yarrow (Achillea millefolium), preserved in a solid obelisk-shaped prism of resin, underlit by a bright LED light, and mounted into a base made of 3d printed wood pulp, hand stained with wood stain oil, and plugs in via a USB 2.0 plug in the back of the base. The effect is a dazzling watery prism effect that casts across gently across a dark room, occasionally reflecting the colors of the plant inside.

The genus name Achillea is derived from the Greek figure Achilles, who, according to Homer's Illiad, was taught how to use this healing herb on the fields of battle by the centaur Chiron. Yarrow, in fact, has been used utilized for it's wound-staunching properties across Eurasian cultures since antiquity. It's considered by many to be the quintessential herb of healers, and carrying or wearing this herb is said to confer protection.

The light measures approximately 4.5" tall and 1.75" wide at the base, or about 114mm tall by 44mm wide. It is powered via a 3 foot long USB cord 2.0 cord in the back of the base.

The specimen has been dried thoroughly and coated in a UV resistant finish prior to being embedded in epoxy resin. The cap and findings are made of sturdy stainless steel.

The package will be carefully hand wrapped in bubble wrap, then wrapped with tissue paper and twine.

PLEASE NOTE: This piece has a small flaw on the edge where an air bubble was repaired. The light is otherwise completely functional! I decided to sell the piece despite the flaw because Lilac is a popular flower and this was a particularly nice specimen.
