Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) - Chunky Statement Piece Prism Necklace

$35.00 Sold Out

This large, statement piece pendant contains one sizable sprig of Yarrow (Achillea millefolium), dried and preserved in a prism of clear, glass-like resin.

The genus name Achillea is derived from the Greek figure Achilles, who, according to Homer's Illiad, was taught how to use this healing herb on the fields of battle by the centaur Chiron. Yarrow, in fact, has been used utilized for it's wound-staunching properties across Eurasian cultures since antiquity. It's considered by many to be the quintessential herb of healers, and carrying or wearing this herb is said to confer protection.

The specimen has been dried thoroughly and coated in a UV resistant finish prior to being embedded in epoxy resin. The cap and findings are made of sturdy stainless steel.

This pendant is one of a kind and will be wrapped in a manner similar to the last photo in the listing and come with a small tag stating the name of the species, stamped by hand and typed on a vintage typewriter.

Please let me know at checkout if you have a necklace length preference! Otherwise I will include an 18" chain by default.

PLEASE NOTE: The modeled shot at the second to last photo is not the exact pendant you will receive but one of the exact same dimensions, in order to give you a sense of it's scale.
