Woody Nightshade (Solanum dulcamara) - Floral Light #1
$40.00 Sold Out
This hand-made desk light contains one preserved specimen of Woody Nightshade (Solanum dulcamara), preserved in a solid obelisk-shaped prism of resin, underlit by a warm LED light embedded into the resin itself, and finally mounted within a base made of 3D printed wood PLA - a mixture of plant-based, biodegradable plastic and Poplar wood pulp.
Bittersweet Nightshade (Solanum dulcamara), otherwise known as Woody Nightshade. As the name "Nightshade" implies this brightly colored member of the tomato family is a common poisonous herb. During the Middle Ages of Europe, the herb was thought to be a strong protection against hexes, and garlands of the plant were often hung on doorways and around the necks of livestock to protect them.
The light measures approximately 102mm tall from tip to base and about 43mm wide at the base (4" by 1 11/16"). It is powered by two replaceable #CR2032 batteries and can be powered on and off via a twisting switch under the base. For your convenience, your order will include a replacement set of batteries.
The specimen has been dried thoroughly and coated in a UV resistant finish prior to being embedded in epoxy resin. The cap and findings are made of sturdy stainless steel.
The package will be carefully hand wrapped in bubble wrap, then wrapped with tissue paper and twine.
