Violet (Viola sororia) - Small Electroform Copper #1

$32.00 Sold Out

This pendant contains one small sprig of Violet (Viola sororia), all collected ethically and respectfully from a local historic graveyard, from a portion of the graveyard in which all of the graves date back to the 1800's.

An incredibly iconic staple of spring in the US and the native range of this flower, the common lawn flower is considered to be a symbol of sapphic love; based on a poem by the Greek poet Sappho, who described herself and her lover as wearing garlands of the flower, it became a common practice especially among lesbian and bisexual women in the early 1900's to exchange the flowers with their lovers as a romantic gesture.

The pendants measure approximately 15mm by 42mm including the loop for the chain.

Please let me know at checkout if you have a necklace length preference! Otherwise I will include an 18" chain by default.
