Chokecherry (Prunus virginiana) - Floral Night-Light #1
This hand-made desk light contains one preserved specimen of Chokecherry (Prunus virginiana), preserved in a solid obelisk-shaped prism of resin, underlit by a bright LED light, and mounted into a base made of 3d printed wood pulp, hand stained with wood stain oil, and plugs in via a USB 2.0 plug in the back of the base. The effect is a dazzling watery prism effect that casts across gently across a dark room, occasionally reflecting the colors of the plant inside.
Chokecherry, also called Bird Cherry, is a variety of cherry native to the northeast United States. It produces a stalk of white flowers in the spring and a vivid spike of red berries in the autumn. The cherries themselves are bitter, but can be dried or made into jam to make them more palatable, making them a valuable source of wild food.
The light measures approximately 4.5" tall and 1.75" wide at the base, or about 114mm tall by 44mm wide. It is powered via a 3 foot long USB cord 2.0 cord in the back of the base.
The specimen has been dried thoroughly and coated in a UV resistant finish prior to being embedded in epoxy resin. The cap and findings are made of sturdy stainless steel.
The package will be carefully hand wrapped in bubble wrap, then wrapped with tissue paper and twine.
