Borage (Borago officinalis) - Floral Night-Light
$40.00 Sold Out
This hand-made desk light contains one preserved specimen of Borage (Borago officinalis), preserved in a solid obelisk-shaped prism of resin, underlit by a bright LED light, and mounted into a base made of 3d printed wood pulp, hand stained with wood stain oil, and plugs in via a USB 2.0 plug in the back of the base. The effect is a dazzling watery prism effect that casts across gently across a dark room, occasionally reflecting the colors of the plant inside.
It is a commonly held belief by both folk practitioners and among modern gardeners, that Borage has the power to confer happiness to all that observe it. Looking at it's iconic, star-shaped, pastel colored nodding flowers, I find myself hard pressed to disagree. Borage is also an edible flower, and is a common ornament in summer-time drinks and summer salads.
The light measures approximately 4.5" tall and 1.75" wide at the base, or about 114mm tall by 44mm wide. It is powered via a 3 foot long USB cord 2.0 cord in the back of the base.
The specimen has been dried thoroughly and coated in a UV resistant finish prior to being embedded in epoxy resin. The cap and findings are made of sturdy stainless steel.
The package will be carefully hand wrapped in bubble wrap, then wrapped with tissue paper and twine.
PLEASE NOTE: This piece has a small flaw on the edge where an air bubble was repaired. The light is otherwise completely functional! I decided to sell the piece despite the flaw because Lilac is a popular flower and this was a particularly nice specimen.
